Canada-Holland Friendship Tulip Garden Planting

IMG_3364Windsor NS, Nov 1, One of 140 Canada-Holland Friendship Tulip Garden Plantings across Canada took place this past Sunday in Victoria Park. Despite the damp and occasional rain, 50+ volunteers locally coordinated through Communities in Bloom, came out to plant 700 bulbs of tulips around the Bandstand in Victoria Park.

The Canada-Holland Friendship Tulip Garden in Windsor NS is one of 140 gardens planted across Canada celebrating the gift of 100,000 tulip bulbs sent by the Dutch royal family in 1945. The gift of tulips is in appreciation for the hospitality shown to the Dutch royal family during WW II and for the major role undertaken by the Canadian troops in the liberation of the Netherlands.
